What to see

Shanti Stupa is also a must visit spiritual hub having a white dome and standing at a height of 4267 meters. Climb five hundred steps to reach this stupa where peace is guaranteed. The beauty of Diskit Gompa is also unparalleled. This is the biggest and the oldest existing monastery in the Nubra Valley of Leh. The monastery houses a statue of Cho Rinpoche (Crowned Buddha) in the prayer hall. You can also see a 32 metre statue of Maitreya Buddha near Diskit Monastery.

Leh Ladakh’s natural beauty is unimaginable. Spend some time along the Pangong Lake reflecting the most beautiful hues of blue. This lake is perfect for day excursions and to click some amazing pictures of Mother Nature. Also visit Khardung La which is believed to be the highest and most adventurous pass in the world. It takes you to an altitude of 17582 feet and is home to a collection of breath-taking valleys. The beauty of Zanskar valley also charms streams of nature seekers and adventure lovers. Wildlife lovers must also pay a visit to the Hemis National Park which is the largest national park in South Asia. What to eat

Ladakhi food is full of flavours and aromas. Thukpa, a thick soup made with vegetables, is made in every household. Khambir is a traditional bread of the region which is usually served with butter tea.  Locals also love Tigmo/Teemo made with vegetables and fermented bread pieces. Momos is also one of the most loved dishes.

What to shop

Leh Ladakh promises you a memorable shopping spree. Tibetan Handicrafts & Wares make great household decors. The region is also known for authentic Pashmina Shawls and Woollens which are often bought by travellers. Do visit Ladakh Art Palace (Main Bazaar Road) known for selling Ladakhi jewellery, Tibetan wares and artefacts, antiques. Leh’s main Bazaar Road is also loved for its shops and stalls selling Tibetan handicrafts and jewellery.

How to reach

Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is the main airport of the region. Direct flights are available from Delhi, Srinagar and Jammu. Pathankot and Chandigarh are the closest railway stations to Leh. 
Travellers can also take bus services from Jammu and Kashmir or from Manali to visit Leh and Ladakh.
