  • Lucknow

It is the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, identified for its historical splendors, unmatchable hospitality and chikankari embroidery. Visit the most prominent landmark Bara Imambara, a religious congregation hall, featuring mind-boggling Bhul-Bhulaiya. Just adjacent to it, walk to Roomi Darwaza an exemplary Awadhi architecture. The gate will lead you to famous Chota Imambara consisting of two halls and a Shehnasheen. Lucknow is full of such exciting spots like Lucknow Zoo, British Residency, Hazratganj and Chattar Manzil.

  • Agra

Agra is an ancient city residing on the bank of Yamuna River. It is world-famous for boasting wonders of Mughal architecture. Of which, Taj Mahal is a masterpiece which is also listed in ‘Seven Wonders of the world’. The beautiful structure with the ornate gateway, Mughal garden and embellished walls and floors will win your heart. Another gem is Agra Fort that will intrigue you with interesting features like Jahangiri Mahal. Don’t miss Fatehpur Sikri that will leave you stunned with its imposing Buland Darwaza, Ibadat Khana and Panch Mahal.    

  • Varanasi or Benaras

It is a Gangetic city holding sheer religious significance. According to Hindu mythology, death in Varanasi helps to achieve salvation. The city is also known for its myriad of ghats for which it is fabled as ‘the City of Ghats’. The most famous one is Dashashwamedha Ghat which attracts streams of devout and visitors with grand daily Ganga Aarti.  Manikarnika Ghat is equally famous but for being a sacred cremation ground. A boat ride on the Ganga River for the sunrise-sunset view is a wonderful experience which you will cherish forever.

  • Sarnath

Located 10 km from Varanasi, Sarnath is a noteworthy place having Buddhist pilgrimage sites. Here you will have a great time tracing the roots of Buddhism. The main attraction is Dhameka Stupa, where Buddha delivered his first sermon to five monks. Head to Ashokan Pillar and see the edits of King Ashoka inscribed on the pillars. Next, visit Sarnath Museum which catches attention with the glorious ‘Lion Capital of Ashoka' which is now the emblem of India. Other interesting sites include Digambar Jain Mandir, Chaukhandi Stupa and Dharma Chakra Jina Vihar.

  • Dudhwa National Park

Besides marvelous monuments, Uttar Pradesh is also recognized for its brimming wildlife. A part of which is protected in the famous Dudhwa National Park. Get high on thrill with a jeep safari. The visitors come to this park mainly for spotting Tiger. In addition to it, enjoy sighting rare animals and birds like leopards, elephants, Bengal florican and kingfisher.

The state signifies rich taste in art which can be seen in various items. Some of the most famous ones are Chikankari embroidery apparels (Lucknow), stone carvings (Mathura), marble and glass artifacts (Agra), Banarasi silk saree (Varanasi) and glass bangles (Firozabad).

By Air- The chief airports in the state are Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow and Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi. Additionally, four domestic airports boost air connectivity.

By Rail- Every part of the state has rail connectivity. The main railway stations are Lucknow NR, Varanasi Junction, Kanpur Central, Mathura Junction, Gorakhpur Junction and Agra Cantt.

By Road- It has a well-maintained network of roads and National Highways that link it to the rest of the country.
