  • Golden Temple

It is the symbol of Punjab and the holiest pilgrimage site of Sikhs, located in Amritsar. The temple is sanctified with the Sikh scripture, Guru Granth Sahib.   • Jallianwala Bagh

  • Wagah Border

As the name suggests, it is the international border line of India (Attari) with Pakistan (Wagah). It is travelers favorite who come to watch the main attraction, Beating retreat ceremony. The 45 min military exercise is conducted daily by India and Pakistan’s army.

  • Durgiana Temple

The temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga and Lord Vishnu, is an imitation of the Golden Temple. Sharing a lot of similarities like extensive use of marble, water moat, gold-leaf work on dome, it will promise you a great time.

  • Rock Garden

A sculpture garden located in the capital of Punjab, Chandigarh is an inspirational example of recycling waste. It was established by a government official, Nek Chand near Sukhna Lake. He showed its creativity in the best way by making decorative items of waste products like plastic, rags and broken ceramics.

 

What to eat

The state is known for its delicious food served with dollops of ghee and butter. The must-try dishes are Sarson da saag with Makke ki roti, butter chicken, butter naan, Amritsari Kulcha and Dal Makhani. Do not forget to have the famous yogurt drink, Lassi. And complete your meal with confections like Kadha Prasad and Pinni.

What to shop

Punjab, the land of vibrant culture has colorful traditional items to offer. Some irresistible ones are Phulkari embroidery, Parandi and Punjabi jutti. Ludhiana is a big market of woolen and hosiery so you must pick some hand-woven clothing like durries (carpets), shawls and sweaters.

By Rail- Bathinda Junction is the largest railway station in the state. Other main railway stations are in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Firozpur, Pathankot, Amritsar and Patiala.

By Road- All the cities and towns in Punjab are inter-connected by four-lane national highways. A well-maintained road network connects it with the rest of the country.
