What to see

Nana Devi Temple

Nainital is named after the revered Hindu Goddess, Naina Devi that is worshipped in this ancient temple. You can find it resting on the edge of the lake in Mallital, the upper end of the hill-station. It is said while Shiva was carrying the corpse of Sati, her eye fell on the spot where the temple exists. The place was hence named ‘Naina’ which means eyes. The best time to visit is during September when the temple is decorated in all its glory for Nanda Devi Mela (held every year on Nandashtami).

Mall Road

Mall Road is the soul of this parky paradise that twinkles in the evening with ostentatious stores, cafes and restaurants. The road rims Naini lake connecting the two ends of Nainital – Mallital (Upper) and Tallital (Lower). Mallital brims with eateries and markets existing since colonial times. Tallital, on the other hand, boasts mesmerizing hotels and handicraft shops. You are definitely going to have a whale of shopping experience.
