What to see

Aplather Lake

You would have never felt more amazed than the sight of this paradisiacal lake. Nearly 13 km away from Gulmarg, Aplather lake is located at a height of 4511 m at the foot of the twin Apharwat peaks. Pony rides are available to reach here that will pass you through spectacular views of snowy peaks, flower-laden meadows and so on. Its unsurpassed beauty also makes it a favorite place of photographers who love to capture marvels of nature.   

Gondola ride

Riding the big cable car at a height of 4200 m over the snow-shrouded mountains is an impressive experience in itself. Apart from its riveting beauty, the Gondola ride is the main highlight of Gulmarg. It is a two-tiered ride that takes Gulmarg-Kongdori in the first leg, then other leg covers Kongdori-Apharwat peak. You will gain a height of about  2,600 m (Gulmarg) to 3,080 m (Kongdori) till a whopping 4,200 m (Apharwat peak) high mountain station.

Baba Reshi Shrine

Set at an altitude of 2,133 m, it is the 500-year-old shrine of Ziyarat Baba Reshi. The three-story monument is one of the gentle reminders of the past that intrigue the tourists till date. People come to see its structural beauty displaying an aesthetic mix of Mughal and Persian style architecture. The location is equally enchanting encircled by a lush garden.

Gulmarg biosphere reserve

The picture-perfect place shelters a thrilling diversity of flora and fauna which is best showcased by Gulmarg Biosphere Reserve. Spanning in an area of 180 sq. km, the protected area attracts travelers with rare and endangered animal species. You are likely to chance upon snow leopard, red fox, musk deer, Black Bear and more. For bird lovers, it fills your heart with the joy of exploring beautiful and rare species like Griffon Vulture, Monal and Blue Black Pigeon.

Golf course

Enjoy the delights of trying hands on golf at a mind-blowing height of 2,650 m in Gulmarg. It is reputed as one of the highest Golf course grounds in the world. The ground is an 18-hole golf course. Its surrounding mountain peaks and lush meadows make the sport more enjoyable.

How to reach

By Air: Srinagar airport is the nearest airport to Gulmarg. It provides domestic flights to major cities.

By Rail: Jammu, at a distance of 300 km is the nearest railhead. You can get trains from here to all parts of the country.

By Road: You can drive to Gulmarg from Srinagar via Tangmarg which takes nearly 1 hr by bus or car.
