Trivandrum

Officially called Thiruvananthapuram, it is the capital and an acclaimed gateway to the ‘God's own country’ Kerala. The city is a mishmash of natural beauty aesthetically intertwined with the historical mysteries. What to see

Padmanabham Swamy Temple

This is the most famous temple in the city noted for its architectural beauty and historical significance. The temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams (holy shrines of Lord Vishnu). It is likely to astonish you with an impeccable blend of Kerala and Tamil style of architecture. The principal deity of Lord Vishnu can be seen in the sleeping position on Sheshnaga (snake). It is bedecked with interesting features like 100 ft. tall 7-tier gopuram built-in Pandayan style.   

Neyyar Dam

It is a picturesque dam constructed at the foothills of the Western Ghats. With a beautiful location comprising of a lake, it has become a popular picnic spot to unwind. People also come to take yoga courses in the peaceful Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwanthari Ashram located here. The lake offers boating; go for it and lose yourself in the enchanting natural beauty.  

Napier Museum

Visiting a museum is the best way to learn about the place and its history. This museum will show you the past of Trivandrum with its rare collection of archaeological and historic artifacts. Established in 1855, it is an interesting museum themed on art and natural history. The unique architectural style with gothic roof and minarets lures history buffs and architecture lovers. The exhibits include bronze idols, ancient ornaments, a temple chariot and ivory carvings.

Varkala Beach

Varkala is not just an ordinary beach where people come to just swim and relax. It carries a distinctive geographical feature of being the only place in Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to the Arabian Sea. In addition to it, the beach is dotted with fascinating landmarks that draw tourists. These include 2,018-year-old Janardana Swami Temple and Sivagiri Mutt (mausoleum of Sree Narayana Guru). The beach location is also a popular spot for enjoying Ayurveda massage.

Kovalam Beach

Kovalam beach is the most popular beach in Kerala that sees scores of travelers all year round. The palm-fringed beach is postcard-perfect scenery of glassy water wonderfully juxtaposed with golden sand. It will offer you several beach sports to indulge in like snorkeling, catamaran rides, sunbath and more.

How to reach

By Air – Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, located at Chakai (6.7 km away) serves the city.  Travelers can avail flight to all major cities of India and international destinations like Singapore, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

By Rail – Thiruvananthapuram Central is the busiest railway station in Kerala. In addition to it, the city has five more railway stations that offer short as well as long-distance trains to other states.

By Road – The city located in National Highway 66 is well-connected to all parts of the country.
